Ron DeLucchi was a first-round draft pick who never made it out of A ball.

The Pittsburgh Pirates chose DeLucchi 12th in the 1983 amateur draft, the second outfielder taken after Dave Clark and the first high school outfielder picked. He hit .255/.296/.371 in his pro debut for the Watertown Pirates. He fielded just .906, his 12 errors leading New York-Penn League outfielders. He struck out in 72 of 278 at-bats.

In 1984, DeLucchi was with the Macon Pirates (.240/.315/.352 in 99 G) and Prince William Pirates (.168/.202/.232 in 26 G), with his defense at least better. He repeated with Prince William in 1985, hitting only .224/.252/.252. He was now a bench player, while a fellow Buc first-round pick named Barry Bonds was shining in the outfield. DeLucchi was 16 for 87 with a double, two homers and ten walks in 30 games for the 1986 Prince William club to end his career.
