Biographical Information[edit]

Sam Moll pitched for the Oakland Athletics in 2017 and again in 2021. However, between the two stints, he did not simply play in the A's system, but instead was part of five different organizations: he was first claimed on waivers by the Pittsburgh Pirates following the 2017 season, and then a few days later was claimed again off waivers, this time by the Seattle Mariners. The following spring, he was placed on waivers once again and this time was claimed by the Toronto Blue Jays. He spent the 2018 season in their system, then was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the minor league portion of the 2018 Rule V Draft. He spent a couple of seasons in their organization, including 2020 when he was unable to pitch due to the Coronavirus pandemic shutting down the minor leagues, then was signed as a free agent by the Arizona Diamondbacks in November 2020. Finally, on July 2, 2021, he came full circle as the A's purchased hic contract from the D-Backs and he made his return to the majors on July 17th, having been away from the Show for three and a half seasons. He actually pitched pretty well for Oakland, with an ERA of 3.48 in 8 games.
