Biographical Information

Santos Rodriguez was a relief pitcher in the minor leagues from 2007 to 2014. He was signed by the Atlanta Braves as an international amateur free agent before 2007. He played for the GCL Braves in 2007 and 2008, going 1-2, 2.79 with 5 saves in 14 games the second year. He was traded to the Chicago White Sox on June 23, 2009, as the player to be named later in a transaction originally concluded on December 4th the previous year in which the Braves had acquired pitchers Javier Vazquez and Boone Logan from Chicago for Tyler Flowers, Jon Gilmore, Brent Lillibridge and him. He split that season between the Bristol White Sox of the Appalachian League and Kannapolis Intimidators of the South Atlantic League, going a combined 2-1, 1.16 with 4 saves in 22 games.

In 2010 and 2011, he was with the Winston-Salem Dash of the Carolina League, going 2-0, 3.57 the first year and 2-3, 3.77 the second. In 2012, he was with the Birmingham Barons and Charlotte Knights, playing in both AA and AAA for the first time, with a combined record of 2-4, 2.90 with 8 saves in 42 games. He also allowed only 40 hits in 71 1/3 innings, while striking out 69 batters. He was exclusively a relief pitcher and seemed on the verge of making his major league debut, but it never came. He was with the same two teams in 2013, but was only 2-0, 4.91 in 33 games, having been hit very hard in AAA (his ERA was 7.30 in 18 games for Charlotte). Following the season, he was designated for assignment and claimed on waivers by the Arizona Diamondbacks, but injuries got the best of him. His only games in 2014 were on a rehabilitation assignment with the AZL Diamondbacks, where he pitched 2 scoreless innings. He was assigned to the AA Mobile Bay Bears, but never took the mound for them and did not pitch professionally after that season.

In addition to his work in the U.S., he was with the Leones del Escogido of the Dominican League in winter ball.
