Sean Toerner peaked at AA.

Toerner was the NCAA Division II All-American second baseman in 1980. The San Francisco Giants took him in the 18th round of the 1980 amateur draft. Toerner hit .258/.339/.372 for the 1981 Clinton Giants in his pro debut, while fielding .953 as their starting second baseman. He played in both 1982 and 1983 for the Shreveport Giants. The first year, he put up a .296/.378/.438 line in 52 games, backing up Randy Kutcher at shot and seeing action at second base as well. In 1983, he fell to .236/.334/.346 while fielding .975 as their starter at second. By this point, San Francisco's second baseman of the future, Robby Thompson was only a step below him in the minors. Overall, Toerner had batted .258/.345/.376 in 267 minor league games.
