Biographical Information[edit]

Taylor Kinzer is the son of former major leaguer Matt Kinzer.

The Washington Nationals took Kinzer in the 34th round of the 2006 amateur draft as an outfielder. He continued on to college, attending the appropriately-named Taylor University. He was 5-5 as a freshman in 2008 and hit .316. He hit .316 again in 2009 and went 8-0. The Los Angeles Angels took him in the 24th round of the 2009 amateur draft. Assigned to the Orem Owlz, he struggled with a 6.04 ERA and .342 opponent average; he had no decisions and one save in 17 games. In 2010, he pitched for Orem (1-1, 4.85) and the AZL Angels (1 R in 3 IP).
