Biographical Information

Terry Pendleton was signed as a 7th round draft pick in the 1982 amateur draft by the St. Louis Cardinals and scout Steve Flores.

As a rookie, Pendleton played in 65 straight games before having to be benched due to an insect bite on his leg. Pendleton was the 1991 National League MVP and finished second in the voting in 1992. He won three Gold Gloves in a 15-year career in which he had nearly 1,900 hits.

He appeared in five World Series with the St. Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves.

After retiring as a player in 1998, he has been the Atlanta Braves hitting coach starting in 2002. On May 17, 2016, Pendleton moved to bench coach following the firing of manager Fredi Gonzalez and bench coach Carlos Tosca. He stayed in the job until the end of the 2017 season.
