Biographical Information

Tom Kelley pitched for the Cleveland Indians from 1964 to 1967, without much success, going 6-9, 3.97 over parts of four seasons. He was then in the minor leagues until 1971, when he was brought up by the Atlanta Braves and had his best year, with a record of 9-5 and a 2.96 ERA. However, he could not repeat that success in 1972, when he was 5-7, 4.56, and then finished his major league career with 7 games out of the Braves' bullpen in 1973.

In the minors, he had a great season with the Portland Beavers of the Pacific Coast League in 1965, going 16-3 with a 2.38 ERA in 26 starts and racking up 6 shutouts. He pitched mainly in AA from 1967 to 1970 as he tried unsuccessfully to return to the big leagues. After his time with the major league Braves was up, he spent three seasons with the Richmond Braves of the International League, from 1973 to 1975, after also pitching for them for part of the 1970 season. He was 8-7, 3.07 in 1973. He finished his professional career with 7 games for the Tidewater Tides in the New York Mets organization in 1976, but was released after putting up an ERA of 6.26.
