Biographical Information[edit]

Wheeler Flemming played for the Opelika Owls from 1947 to 1951, hitting .247 in 486 games. Perhaps his best year was his first, when he hit .239 with career highs in hits (119), doubles (16) and triples (8). In 1,778 at-bats, he hit just two home runs.

He was Opelika's manager in 1950, replacing Don Bailey partway through the year, and 1951 (he was replaced by Bailey partway through the year). A college basketball and minor league basketball player, he later coached high school basketball and was a farmer.
