Biographical Information

Chewing gum mogul William Wrigley Jr. purchased the Chicago Cubs from Charles Weeghman in 1919 and was the namesake of Wrigley Field. He had been a minority owner starting in 1916 and soon began loaning money to Weeghman when he ran into financial troubles, eventually buying him out. When he died in 1932, his son Philip K. Wrigley inherited the club.
