Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Zack Erwin was selected by the Chicago White Sox out of Clemson University in the 4th round of the 2015 amateur draft. He spent his first professional season with two teams, the Great Falls Voyagers of the Pioneer League, for whom he went 2-0, 0.84 in 8 games, and the Kannapolis Intimidators of the South Atlantic League, where he was 0-2, 1.89 in 7 games. Following his excellent debut, he was used as trade bait, being sent to the Oakland Athletics on December 9th along with J.B. Wendelken in return for IF Brett Lawrie. The trade was made possible by a change in rules that now allowed teams to trade players they had picked in the previous year's draft without having to wait a full calendar year to do so.
The Athletics sent Erwin to the Stockton Ports of the California League to begin 2016.
