Biographical Information[edit]
Ziggy Ziegler was the longtime captain of the Grand Rapids Chicks of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League. An infielder and a pitcher, she played with the team from 1943 to 1954 and was the league's Player of the Year in 1950. That season she had a streak of 43 consecutive scoreless innings pitched. She was also an All-Star in 1953.
She appeared in the movie "The Stratton Story" as a stand-in for actress June Allyson in a baseball scene.
After her baseball career ended, Ziegler was a court reporter in California for many years.
