Biographical information[edit]

catcher Chandler Seagle was the 261st and last player to make his major league debut in 2023, doing so for the San Diego Padres on the season's penultimate day, September 30th. He pinch-hit for DH Juan Soto in the 9th inning of a 6-1 win over the Chicago White Sox, grounding out, and did not get to play the field.

Seagle was a 30th round selection by the Padres in the 2017 amateur draft, out of Appalachian State University. While biding time when the minor league season was cancelled die to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, he returned his alma mater as a volunteer assistant coach.
